The winery presents Pagos de Anguix El Rosado 2023, the most recent vintage of a wine conceived from its origins to reinterpret and pay tribute to the historic clarets of the area.
Coming from vineyards with an average age of 30 years and a remarkable height for the Ribera del Duero, 850 meters above sea level, where the climate is characterized by its severity, it demonstrates from the first moment the mastery of the winegrower and the technical team to achieve not only excellence in the mouth but also a relevance to the aroma very typical of the varieties that make it up: a blend of Albillo Mayor and Tinto Fino, a characteristic shared by the red varieties produced by this winery, Pagos de Anguix, and not so common to date in the denomination.
José Manuel Pérez Ovejas, winemaker and corporate technical advisor, describes El Rosado as “a fresh wine with a vocation for durability. Expressive and glyceric, soft and very lively.” In the words of the technician, this wine from high altitude vineyards “is designed to be balanced and harmonious, and made to have its own identity.”
As for the 2023 vintage, it was good in quantity, but even better in quality, already predicting excellent wines: the August heat wave recorded high temperatures during the day and cooler early mornings, a thermal contrast that helped the strain to mature slowly. It was the timely September rains that increased the water reserve of the soil, giving us a fresh, thick grape with moderate acidity, of great quality and a perfect health condition, whose harvest was carried out by hand, ensuring the optimal selection of the berries and thus guaranteeing its arrival at the winery in the best conditions.
In short, Pagos de Anguix El Rosado 2023 offers us a gastronomic profile, exceptionally versatile and rounded, a complex and fresh wine, which embodies the rich viticultural tradition and the innovative vision of the Ribera del Duero and adds to the range of red wines of the winery to date: Pagos de Anguix Costalara, Pagos de Anguix Barrueco and Pagos de Anguix Prado Lobo.
