Juvé & Camps reinforces its commitment to sommelier with the support of the 1st Edition of the TOP 100 SOMMELIERS held for the first time in our country.

Closely linked to gastronomy since its beginnings more than a hundred years ago, the House is committed to highlighting the figure of the sommelier, so necessary for both sectors.

Juvé & Camps, a family winery with more than 200 years of viticultural legacy and more than a century producing long-aged sparkling wines, is proud to announce that it will be the official sponsor of the I Edition of the Top 100 Sommeliers Spain 2024, held for the first time in our country, although with a recognized career in the United Kingdom, whose purpose is to highlight the figure of the sommelier, highlighting its importance for both the wine and gastronomic sectors, and for their mutual enrichment.

The winery takes another step to reinforce its support and commitment to this profession, which it also recognizes as necessary to spread wine culture and link it to the gastronomic wealth of both our country and the rest of the world.

Meritxell Juvé, 4th Generation Family & CEO, states that “it is an immense honor for our House, Juvé & Camps, to be able to sponsor this first edition of the Top 100 Sommeliers of Spain, thus showing our absolute support and gratitude for the enormous work they do to highlight everything that is behind each bottle. Our sparkling wines are aged for a long time, up to 108 months, so their style is highly gastronomic. This has meant that our ties with sommelier have always been very close and necessary. Without them it would be even more complicated to explain the enormous versatility of our wines.”

The skills of the sommelier are essential in a gastronomic experience, which is why this classification values more than the profile of each participant or the length of their wine list. Communication skills, empathy, expertise or the capacity for seduction and persuasion are also essential in the work of this professional and, therefore, the contest in turn takes into account a combination of factors such as responsibilities, seniority or awards obtained by each of the participants.

Top 100 Sommeliers is the definitive list of professionals in the wine and hospitality sector with more than 40 years of experience and brings together the brightest experts to select the 100 best sommeliers. The event, which held its last edition in May 2023 in the United Kingdom, decided to partner, after its success and popularity, with the well-known Spanish sommelier Agustín Trapero to bring the initiative to Spain.

A panel of judges made up of renowned experts in the sector, the Masters of Wine Pedro Ballesteros, Andreas Kuback and Almudena Alberca, as well as the proclaimed Best Sommelier in the World 2023, Valeria Gamper, and Agustín Trapero himself, will contribute their experience to evaluate each participant seeking the highest quality standards. A meritocratic system that will select the 100 best sommeliers by thoroughly evaluating their knowledge and professionalism. The results will be announced in May 2024.
