There are sparkling wines that speak of their territory and others that interpret it with almost surgical precision. Cinta Xarel·lo by Juvé & Camps belongs to this second category: a pure expression of the xarel·lo variety, where freshness, texture and the identity of the Alt Penedès landscape find balance.
This sparkling wine comes from a clear pursuit: to fully respect the grape and its origin in order to craft a sparkling wine with its own character, free of unnecessary artifices. The result is a contemporary interpretation of xarel·lo, where elegance is not forced, but built from vineyard to bottle.
Origin
Made from xarel·lo grapes grown in our Espiells parcels. Located in Alt Penedès, at the foot of the Montserrat mountain, they sit at an altitude of 180–250 m above sea level, on limestone-clay soils very poor in organic matter and well drained, making them ideal for balancing vine vigour and producing the finest wines.
Viticulture
Estate-owned organic vineyard integrated with forests and field margins that provide biodiversity and natural balance. We care for our vines using regenerative and precision viticulture techniques and practice respectful pruning, focusing on low yields to maintain vineyard health and longevity.
Winemaking
This sparkling wine is made from xarel·lo grapes that are not destemmed and are gently pressed to obtain free-run must. It is then cold-settled statically to remove impurities before undergoing the first fermentation in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a two-month ageing on its lees to add creaminess to the wine. Finally, it undergoes a second fermentation in bottle with MCR (Rectified Concentrated Must), a grape juice rich in natural sugars, and selected yeasts.
2021 Vintage
The 2021 vintage marks the beginning of the current drought cycle, characterised by a dry and warm climate. Water reserves accumulated in previous years allowed the vines to face this challenge with strength, resulting in exceptionally fruity wines with intense aromatic expression, remarkable ageing potential, and delighting the most demanding palates with their elegance and complexity over time.
