Viticultura regenerativa en Juvé & Camps

Anyone who has walked through the Penedès vineyards will have realized the privilege of our lands. Spectacular landscapes bathed in the Mediterranean air. A luxury that we must care for and preserve. At Juvé & Camps, respect for nature in coexistence with the vineyard is a priority, integrating it into the ecosystem.

Ecology and sustainability have always been present in the practices of the Juvé family in the vineyard, with actions that protect the natural environment that surrounds our vineyards.

“In our house we conceive viticulture from a holistic perspective, a conjunction of natural and human factors, so we understand that the best way to manage the vineyard is by maintaining biodiversity and the continuity of the food chain and restoring the balance of the soils. in a natural way”, affirms Meritxell Juvé, 4th generation at the helm of the winery.

Our viticulture director, Pep Jiménez, is an essential pillar in caring for the environment: “We have spent decades practicing what is now known as regenerative viticulture, at Juvé & Camps we refer to the “naturalization of the vineyard”. It is the set of viticultural tasks in tune with the natural cycle, respectful and sustainable actions with the ecosystem in which the vineyard is integrated”.

At Juvé & Camps we have 400 hectares of land, of which 271 are 100% organic vineyards. The rest of the hectares belong to rivers, forests and fields that draw a harmonious ecosystem.

Since the 1980s we have worked to care for the environment, incorporating shelters for insects, birds and other species, regenerating soils and conserving biodiversity. We use natural techniques, such as mating disruption, to control the risk of pests in the vineyard. We respect the burrows, reforest places and encourage native species.

The work of local shepherds is also fundamental and we collaborate with them so that their flocks graze in the vineyard, keeping it clean and fertilizing the land.

Respecting nature, our vines grow healthy and resilient and we apply respectful pruning to protect sap flows and preserve the health of the plant.
